Hydration Kit
My hydration kit consists of the items listed below. This kit is always easily accessible whether day hiking or backpacking. Consumable weights such as water is not included in the weights listed below with the exception of chemicals for water treatment.
My hydration kit can be separated into two main categories—one for water treatment which includes chlorine dioxide drops and a hollow-fiber filter—and second for water carry.
With this configuration, I have the capacity to carry almost seven liters of water (almost 15 lbs!). Most times the water bags are empty in my pack. The two one liter bottles are full and in the side pockets of my pack. The 750ml bottle is usually hanging off the front strap of my pack with a flavor packet added.
I typically use the water bags as a gravity filter system when in camp. When on the trail, I typically use the Aquamira drops to treat my one liter bottles while I hike.
The current pack list weighs in at 11.5oz (325g) excluding any consumables.
