Notes:
  • Any vehicle can be driven to the trailhead with no problems during dry conditions
  • The road becomes impassable to all vehicles (including four wheel drive) during wet conditions
  • There is no good camping in the immediate area of the trailheads
  • Route requires a 3.2 mile shuttle—a mountain bike could work
  • Wild Wind exit option removes the need for a shuttle but can be difficult to navigate and a lot of bush whacking
  • R1 CAN be broken up into three rappels (98 ft, 196 ft, 59 ft respectively) but better done in one drop
  • If R1 is done in three rappels, no more than 3 in the group
  • Groups of 2–3 will take a total of 8–10 hours exiting DOWN Orderville, larger groups take MUCH longer
