The Way the Canyon Crumbles
The Way the Canyon Crumbles
Crumbling Canyon is only about ten minutes from Spanish Fork. Since this was our first time through this canyon, we had to find our way to the entrance. First, we ended up going up this small canyon that ended up being the exit trail. We did find the bottom of Crumbling Canyon and realized we needed to go back down and then up the wide, open bowl canyon to get where we needed to be.
It's late October. The weather was semi-threatening but stayed cool and dry while we made our run through this canyon. The leaves were probably a little past their peak but still putting on a show.
Sections of the canyon feel like I'm in one of those Honey I Shrunk the Kids movies and I'm in the cracks of a concrete driveway.
At the bottom of the slot section of the canyon, the remains of a deer that had fallen in were still there. Its been there for quite some time as its corpse is dry and doesn't stink at all.
Both of us forgot our helmets, something we won't do again—especially in this conglomerate canyon where rocks can easily dislodge and come falling down.
