Dutch Oven Peachy French Toast

Serves 8

Ingredients

  • 12 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
    • mix the ingredients above in a large bowl
  • one loaf French or Italian bread
    • slice and let soak in egg mixture
  • 1/2 lb butter or margarine
    • melt in preheated oven
  • 1 lb brown sugar
    • mix well with butter until caramelized
  • 48 oz canned sliced peaches (drained)

Instructions

  1. preheat Dutch oven with coals for 15 minutes
  2. put drained peaches over the caramelized sugar
  3. place egg/bread mixture on top of the peaches
  4. cover Dutch oven with lid and return to the coals
  5. bake at 350ºF for 45 minutes
    • if oven gets too hot, watch for burned edges
    • use bottom coals for the first 10 minutes
    • add top coals and continue baking until done
